The role : Residential Support Worker

As a Residential Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in helping children and young people feel safe, supported and valued. Many of the young people we care for have experienced challenges in their lives and need positive role models who can help them build confidence, develop life skills and achieve their potential.

The relationships you build can have a lasting impact. Whether you're encouraging a young person through a difficult day, celebrating their achievements or helping them develop independence, your support can make a real difference to their future.

This is more than a job. It's an opportunity to help shape brighter futures while developing a rewarding career of your own.

Day-to-Day

No two days are the same in children's residential care. One day, you might be helping a young person prepare for school, supporting them with homework or teaching important life skills. Next, you could be taking part in activities such as sports, walks, days out, gaming, cooking, or simply spending time together and building positive relationships.

Our homes operate 24 hours a day, so you'll work a variety of shifts, including long days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins or waking nights depending on the service. While every shift is different, the focus remains the same: creating a safe, nurturing and supportive home environment where young people can thrive.

Alongside the fun and rewarding moments, you'll also help with daily routines, record keeping, care planning and supporting young people through challenges. It's a role that combines responsibility, teamwork and plenty of opportunities to make a positive impact every day.
