Reflecting on 2025

Reflecting on The Final Months of 2025

To commemorate Remembrance Day, students in Purple Class created their own wreaths and collage poppies. This creative activity helped them reflect on the significance of the poppy and the sacrifices made by service personnel. As part of a whole-school observation, the students respectfully participated in the one-minute silence at 11 am, a solemn moment for quiet reflection on the impact of war and the

importance of peace. Furthermore, to connect their classroom learning with their local community's history, the students visited their local war memorial, where they paid their respects to those who lost their lives in various conflicts.

Ribble class have started their travel training this half term as part of their independence and life skills. They all successfully got the train to Clitheroe and walked to the art gallery. During forest school Friday, Ribble class have started to work on the allotment and have planted broad beans in small trays ready to germinate. They have all moved the saplings into the allotment where they have water them when needed. Each pupil in Ribble have enjoyed having coach Bex for PE on a Thursday, they have worked hard during the sessions and learnt new skills.

To celebrate a birthday, the learner enjoyed a fun and engaging birthday party with his peers. Everyone came together to share in the excitement, offering warm wishes and joining in activities that made the day memorable. It was a lovely opportunity for the learner to feel valued and included, and he enjoyed marking his 14th birthday with his friends.

Green Class has been using the visuals around the classroom to request and communicate. ET has been guiding staff to what he wants or to visuals in the room, and he has been signing the Makaton for ‘please’. SH has been using Makaton along with verbal requests, for example signing ‘more please’ in the dinner hall. Green Class’ good news is that both boys are using IT skills to express themselves and make choices this week.

I have seen some really positive interactions between the pupils in the class this week. They have all been kind, understanding and supportive of each other. The pupils have also been playing with pupils from different classes. It is great to see the friendships developing across the whole school.
