The Explorers of Purple Class Journey Around the World!
Residential School
Day School
This week, the students in Purple Class have been transformed into world-class explorers. In their Literacy lessons, they have been diving deep into the non-fiction text, The World’s Most Amazing Places.
From the silent, shimmering depths of the Great Barrier Reef to the towering peaks of the world's most famous volcanoes, the students have been investigating what makes our planet so spectacular. Using the book as their map, they explored the vibrant colours of coral ecosystems and the incredible power hidden beneath the Earth’s crust.
Bringing Science to Life: The Big Eruption!
The highlight of the week came when the class moved from reading to doing. To truly understand the "pulse" and power of a volcano, the students participated in an Attention Autism session.
The "bucket" sparked curiosity, but the main event was the "Stage 3" demonstration: The Great Purple Class Eruption.
The Build-Up: With eyes wide and focus sharp, students watched as the "lava" ingredients were prepared.
The Blast: Using a classic chemical reaction, the class erupted their very own volcano! There were gasps and cheers as the colourful "magma" bubbled over the top, mimicking the real-life wonders they had seen in their books.
Everyone had a great time!
