Helmsley Castle

This week some of our older students spent the day at Helmsley Castle as part of their History Around Us research.

The weather was beautiful and students had a wonderful time exploring Helmsley Castle, learning about the past and the historic significance of the castle and surrounding area.

Students learnt about the castle kitchen, how meals were prepared and the popular food they ate in those times. We enjoyed looking at the fascinating architecture inside, finding a grand chair in the main hall and even the castle toilet!

During the afternoon students enjoyed painting the castle and surrounding scenery in the warm sunshine. Everyone had a great time, whilst also engaging with their learning and improving their history knowledge in readiness for their upcoming examinations.
