Reading Cafe

On 22 January, the Reading Café took place as part of our commitment to promoting a love of reading across the school. The session was designed to allow staff to model reading for pleasure in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The informal “café-style” setting helped pupils to view reading as a positive and social experience.

The Reading Café provided valuable opportunities for pupils to spend time with different classes, staff members and peers they do not usually interact with, encouraging inclusivity and strengthening our school community.

Each session concluded with time for discussion, allowing pupils to share their thoughts and opinions about the text they had heard. Pupils were also given the opportunity to read aloud to the group, including jokes, poems or short passages, helping to develop confidence, fluency and enjoyment in reading.

The event successfully supported our aim of fostering a culture of reading for pleasure, conversation and connection.
