Learning Difficulties

Homes for Learning Difficulties

Our focus is on supporting our student's learning and development through education and social care in a warm, safe, consistent and understanding environment.

All of our services have a homely feel. The children and young people in our care have bright, optimistic spaces to call their own, with the freedom to create the kind of environment they feel good about. Cambian's residential facilities provide between 60 and 80 square metres of floor space per resident offering a range of on-site facilities from classrooms, occupational therapy rooms, sensory rooms and open areas for leisure.

Our services have well-designed outdoor spaces with garden areas for the people in our care to plant and tend herbs, lettuces, tomatoes and vegetables. For children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorders, this kind of educational experience can be wonderfully therapeutic. The feel of the soil, the different texture of the leaves and other parts of the plants and the satisfaction of working with nature to produce tangible results. These are valuable, hands-on experiences that help those in our care understand more about their world, and more about themselves.

If you imagine being 13, living away from your family, the most important thing isn’t the building or the routines - it’s feeling loved. At Rose Bank, my daughter is seen, heard, celebrated and genuinely cared for. That trust has allowed her not just to grow, but to truly thrive. You can’t fake genuine care. The staff have built real trust with my daughter, helping her feel she belongs - and that has made all the difference to her confidence, independence and happiness.

Children feel safe because of the positive relationships and the quality of care that they receive from staff. A child articulated this when they explained, ‘I love my home, it’s always happy and I feel very safe, I can tell the staff anything.
